History and development

The Illkirch campus was developed to meet the growing needs of higher education and research in the Strasbourg region. Initially designed to host technological and scientific institutions, it gradually expanded to a variety of disciplines. The first buildings date from the 1970s and the campus has kept growing ever since.

Institutions and programmes

  1. École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Mulhouse (ENSCMu) — departments and laboratories in chemistry and chemical engineering.
  2. Institut de Physique et de Chimie des Matériaux de Strasbourg (IPCMS) — a leading research centre, master's and doctoral programmes.
  3. École Nationale Supérieure d'Ingénieurs Sud Alsace (ENSISA) — electrical, mechanical and computer engineering.
